Our founder & CEO
Elizabeth Thompson is an accomplished media and business professional who loves helping others achieve worthy goals.
She was part of the startup team at The Nevada Independent, Nevada's go-to nonpartisan publication for news and opinion on policy, politics, government and business, where she served on the board and worked for five years as managing editor and two years as editor-in-chief.
On her way to that endeavor, Elizabeth advanced from independent blogger to political analyst to public affairs television host. Her blog (E!!) focused on policy and politics and after making a name for herself as a credible reporter and commentator, she became the political analyst for News 13/ABC in Las Vegas, where she worked from 2009-2011. She also was the Nevada elections reporter for National Review Online in 2010. Later that year, she founded one of the first nonprofit news sites in the U.S., the Nevada News Bureau, which provided statehouse reporting and later became the parent company of The Nevada Independent.
In 2011, Elizabeth became co-host of a daily public affairs show at News 3/NBC in Las Vegas ("The Agenda"), followed by a stint in 2014 as host for "Nevada Week in Review" on Vegas PBS, where she moderated discussions between top journalists on the big events of the week. Known as "E" to colleagues and friends, Elizabeth also has appeared on CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, Sky News-London, NPR and KNPR in Las Vegas, as well as on radio stations around the U.S., to talk about politics, policy and media.
Prior to her 15 years of work in media, Elizabeth was a key part of a number of business endeavors including co-founding several startups. Those experiences and the successes and failures that came with them served as an invaluable real-world education in the ins/outs of starting and operating a business including product development, branding and marketing, media relations, and customer/client acquisition. Her executive management experience includes overseeing teams from five to more than 100 employees.
